As we wrap up the last week of our sunny summer by the beach I'm not exactly where I expected to be...
Jade and I found ourselves staying in a hotel on the beach in Punta de Mita, a surf spot we had frequented in the recent months about 2 hours south of Chacala bay.
A few weeks ago I received an email from Vicki and Tandy (who's house we were tending) alerting us that they would be returning two weeks early! We had been planning on staying in Mexico through the first week of October and had our schedule tightly packed with family visits for the two weeks before we start our new jobs back in Las Vegas.
We could have come home two weeks early....
But we hadn't had enough surfing!
So we decided to stay one more week to try to get in as much as we could. We scoped out some places in Punta de Mita, which we chose because there are about 10 good surfing breaks within 20 minutes, including the one right in front of this beautiful hotel, La Quinta Del Sol. So we went for it. We booked the hotel and it was pretty close to perfect, with a hammock on the upper deck, and amazing views of the surf break right outside our kitchen window.
Are there good waves right now? Should we grab our boards and run outside? It took two seconds to check! Which we were delighted about since we had to drive 1-2 hours to go surfing from our place in Chacala.
They even have a telescope to check the other surf breaks up the shore.
Spending our last week here has been absolutely amazing! And although we will miss Chacala and everything we got to see and do there, it has been such a great change to be able to surf right off of our front porch to give Mexico a proper farewell.
Surf... sun... sunSETS... swimming, walks on the beach, I just wanted to make the most of this last week before we check back into reality.
It's almost too easy to get caught up taking cheesy, artsy photos all the time. It's so inspiring here. I should really figure out how to use my fancy camera.
Behind the hotel is as beautiful and green as Chacala, but less rural and has by FAR less mosquitoes. Thank goodness!
THANK YOU MEXICO! It's been the time of my life!!
There is so much to look forward to in the next couple months that we are excited to get home. But I wouldn't trade this summer for the world. I feel so blessed to have spent it with my best friend, doing things that we LOVE to do.
